{"id":545,"date":"2026-06-15T08:31:24","date_gmt":"2026-06-15T08:31:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mygar.net\/?page_id=545"},"modified":"2026-06-15T10:16:34","modified_gmt":"2026-06-15T10:16:34","slug":"help-centre","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/mygar.net\/index.php\/help-centre\/","title":{"rendered":"Getting started"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Setting up Manifest6<\/h2>\n<p><em>Everything you need before your first GenDec \u2014 follow these steps in order and you&#8217;ll be ready to fly in about ten minutes.<\/em><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<h3>Step 1 \u2014 Register on this website<\/h3>\n<p>Before downloading the app you need to <a href=\"https:\/\/mygar.net\/index.php\/membership-join\/membership-registration\/\">register as a member here<\/a>. Choose a username and password \u2014 your email is only used for account recovery, not as your login. If you want to use your email as your username, enter it in both the username and email fields.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Make a note of your username and password<\/strong> \u2014 you will need to enter them in the app settings.<\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<h3>Step 2 \u2014 Download and install the app<\/h3>\n<p>Once registered you will be able to see the download links in the <a href=\"https:\/\/mygar.net\/index.php\/Download\">Members Download page<\/a>. There are versions for iOS, Android, Windows and Mac.<\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<h3>Step 3 \u2014 First launch<\/h3>\n<p>On mobile devices the app will ask permission to access your contacts. This is because crew and passenger details are stored securely in your contacts (except on Windows where a local database is used instead). Your contacts are only used to assemble declarations \u2014 never for any other purpose.<\/p>\n<p>You will also see a terms and conditions screen. If you want the same data across multiple devices \u2014 say an iPhone and a Windows laptop \u2014 you need to set up synchronisation using your own cloud service.<\/p>\n<p>Supported services: <strong>iCloud, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Select your preferred service in Settings. Once approved, your data will sync automatically between all devices connected to the same cloud account.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<hr\/>\n<h3>Step 6 \u2014 Add your aircraft<\/h3>\n<table style=\"width:100%;\" cellpadding=\"10\" cellspacing=\"0\" border=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width:40%; vertical-align:top;\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mygar.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/mainappscreen-871x1024.png\" style=\"width:100%; max-width:380px;\"\/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mygar.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/addacft1-1-275x300.png\" style=\"width:100%; max-width:275px; margin-top:10px;\"\/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mygar.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/addacft-269x300.png\" style=\"width:100%; max-width:269px; margin-top:10px;\"\/>\n<\/td>\n<td style=\"vertical-align:top;\">\n<p>You don&#8217;t want to re-enter aircraft details every time you create a declaration \u2014 save your aircraft once and it fills in automatically from then on.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Tap <strong>Aircraft<\/strong> on the home screen<\/li>\n<li>Tap the <strong>Add<\/strong> button (top right)<\/li>\n<li>Fill in the registration, ICAO type designator, and operator details \u2014 most fields are mandatory<\/li>\n<li>Tap the <strong>back arrow<\/strong> (top left) to save, or <strong>Discard<\/strong> (top right) to abandon<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Your saved aircraft will appear in a list ready to select when creating a declaration.<\/p>\n<p>You will need: aircraft registration, ICAO type (e.g. C172, PA28, SR22), operator name and address.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<hr\/>\n<h3>Step 7 \u2014 Add crew and passengers<\/h3>\n<table style=\"width:100%;\" cellpadding=\"10\" cellspacing=\"0\" border=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width:40%; vertical-align:top;\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mygar.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/addcrew1-1-262x300.png\" style=\"width:100%; max-width:262px;\"\/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mygar.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/addcrew2-266x300.png\" style=\"width:100%; max-width:266px; margin-top:10px;\"\/>\n<\/td>\n<td style=\"vertical-align:top;\">\n<p>Tap <strong>Crew<\/strong> on the home screen. The app will search your contacts for anyone with travel document details saved, and also check any previous declarations.<\/p>\n<p>To add a new person tap <strong>Add<\/strong> (top right) and fill in their details. Most fields are mandatory. The Pilot in Command <strong>must<\/strong> have an address and contact details.<\/p>\n<p>You will need passport details for each person: number, nationality, date of birth, expiry date.<\/p>\n<h4>Faster ways to add people<\/h4>\n<p><strong>VCF contact sharing<\/strong> \u2014 ask a passenger to share their contact card with you. The app uses OCR to read and import the details automatically. Best results come from well-lit images with no shadows or reflections, cropped to the passport page borders. Any previously submitted declarations will appear as a list \u2014 useful as a quick reference if you are asked for a GAR receipt. First time around the list will be empty \u2014 tap <strong>Create New<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The declaration screen has three tabs:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Aircraft<\/strong> \u2014 tap Add Aircraft to select your saved aircraft. All fields fill in automatically.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Crew \/ Pax<\/strong> \u2014 tap Add Crew to select from your saved list. Remember to set one person as Pilot in Command.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Journey<\/strong> \u2014 the route and timing details.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Switch between tabs by tapping them \u2014 a blue line shows the active tab.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<table style=\"width:100%; margin-top:10px;\" cellpadding=\"10\" cellspacing=\"0\" border=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width:40%; vertical-align:top;\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mygar.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/jnytab-258x300.png\" style=\"width:100%; max-width:258px;\"\/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mygar.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/next1-259x300.png\" style=\"width:100%; max-width:259px; margin-top:10px;\"\/>\n<\/td>\n<td style=\"vertical-align:top;\">\n<h4>The Journey tab<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Departure and destination must be <strong>ICAO codes<\/strong> unless you have specific permission to use a non-customs airfield. If your location is not in the list, tap the <strong>!<\/strong> icon and enter decimal degrees lat\/long. Entering ZZZZ is no longer accepted.<\/li>\n<li>Green notes below the departure\/destination fields show <strong>notice periods<\/strong> required for that port of entry \u2014 check these.<\/li>\n<li>Date and time can be entered as <strong>UTC or local<\/strong> \u2014 the app converts automatically including daylight saving.<\/li>\n<li>You <strong>must<\/strong> enter an ETE (estimated time en route) \u2014 destination time is calculated from this and cannot be entered manually.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Three buttons at the bottom:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Copy old declaration<\/strong> \u2014 duplicates a previous form. Remember to update the date and time at minimum.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Import flight plan<\/strong> \u2014 see the <a href=\"https:\/\/mygar.net\/index.php\/import-a-flight-plan\/\">Import a Flight Plan<\/a> page.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Next<\/strong> \u2014 proceeds to send.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<hr\/>\n<h3>Step 9 \u2014 Send the declaration<\/h3>\n<table style=\"width:100%;\" cellpadding=\"10\" cellspacing=\"0\" border=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width:40%; vertical-align:top;\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mygar.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/sendgar3-291x300.png\" style=\"width:100%; max-width:291px;\"\/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mygar.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/sendgar4-300x267.png\" style=\"width:100%; max-width:300px; margin-top:10px;\"\/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mygar.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/pdf1-300x202.png\" style=\"width:100%; max-width:300px; margin-top:10px;\"\/>\n<\/td>\n<td style=\"vertical-align:top;\">\n<p>Tapping <strong>Next<\/strong> brings up the send menu:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Send<\/strong> \u2014 submits electronically to UKBF. The app will alert you to any validation errors first (missing PiC, mandatory fields etc). Allow up to a minute for a response.<\/li>\n<li><strong>View PDF<\/strong> \u2014 for non-UKBF electronic declarations, or to share with a handling agent.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Share<\/strong> \u2014 sends the result to someone else.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Permission to Travel response<\/h4>\n<p>If all crew and passengers pass the UK Border Force Permission to Travel check you will see a <strong>Permission to Carry Granted<\/strong> screen. This message comes directly from UKBF \u2014 not from us. UKBF advise that you should still carry out a manual check for non GBR\/IRL passport holders, for example checking <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/check-uk-visa\">online ETAS<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Note that a conventional GAR has already been sent at this point. If there are questions over any crew or passenger you should cancel the GAR while resolving them \u2014 UKBF require a GAR to be on file even where there are passenger queries, so that they can cross-reference.<\/p>\n<h4>Channel Islands, IoM, Ireland, France, Belgium<\/h4>\n<p>For these destinations the app will generate the appropriate PDF declaration form automatically.
