MyGar -The Apps

Private pilots travel from one country to another and must deal with the processes and idiosyncrasies of each jurisdiction. OnlineGar.com has addressed that need for UK Border requirements for over a decade.

From 25 February 2026 the UK will introduce checks on whether persons entering the UK have valid permission to travel (primarily via electronic visa ETA). This is commonly referred to as the “permission to travel” system.

It will no longer be sufficient simply to submit a GAR (General Aviation Report). The commander must receive and act upon information about the status of all crew and passengers.  This is provided from UKBF as information but does not constitute any ‘authority’ to enter UK. This is a vitally important ‘nuance’ to understand. An absence of any warning does not mean a ‘green’ light’ or authority to enter. Nor do any ‘cleared to travel’ responses. You will still be checked at the border and expected to comply with any border procedures.  There could be other issues. All such response info about crew/pax is generated, and belongs to, UKBF. We simply relay it and take no responsibility for any consequence.

OnlineGAR.com, the web-based GAR submission service, does not support this new validation process and will no longer be able to submit GARs after this date. OnlineGar / MyGar.net is addressing this through a unified app platform. Authorisation has now been given and the app service will commence from 0900  27 Feb 2026. The availability of the apps after that time depends on the various ‘appstores’

The apps evolved from earlier work intended to provide a universal “prior permission” workflow. Rapid regulatory changes in the UK, redirected development toward the permission-to-travel requirement. The apps have gone through several iterations (and names) and are now consolidated under MyGar.net/Manifest6

OnlineGar previously allowed direct submission of General Aviation Reports to UK Border Force while storing reusable data in the cloud. From February 2026 additional compliance requirements apply and penalties may be imposed for non-compliance. For technical and regulatory reasons the web platform cannot continue in its current form. Submission for the UK and other jurisdictions (Ireland, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, France, Belgium) will now be handled through the apps.

You must register on the site and download the apps for the devices you intend to use. Versions are available for iOS, macOS, Windows and Android.

Note: MyGAR.net (the website) does not directly submit GARs under the permission-to-travel system. It provides information and access to the apps. The Apps  must be installed in order to submit a compliant GAR.

  • Data can be synchronised across devices
  • Reduced repeated authentication steps
  • Additional documentation support for multiple jurisdictions (expanding)
